They are supper portable and can fit on shoe laces, zipper pulls, keychains etc ,but you have to strike them differently. It will spark off of a sharp rock or knife spine but not well due to its size. I found that the very tip on a knife spine works well or a small ceramic striker works best to make a small shower of sparks.
