I got him a small, and as you can see from the pictures, it is a bit large on him but totally works. I'm glad for him to have room to grow, at this age!My husband has a North Face 3-in-1 coat in a very similar style, and I would say that compared to the North Face, this coat definitely feels lighter and cheaper. The fleece and also the outer shell fabric feel a little more flimsy. That said, the North Face coat was MUCH more expensive than this, and this coat seems like it will do the job for someone who will be skiing only 5-10 times a year. He will probably use it for regular purposes as well. My son says the coat is VERY warm. While skiing, he won't need to wear thermals or any extra layers on the top half of his body. He actually complained that it feels too warm for most regular use - which is exactly why the 3-in-1 concept will come in handy. The outer shell seems like it will be waterproof. The hood attaches to the outer shell of the coat and has good coverage. He also complained that the zipper is very hard to zip. ### ⭐ You should not ski in this jacket. *by K***P on February 15, 2019* I looked at the reviews before I purchased this item and I saw there was an issue with main zipper, but the price was so low that I bought it anyway.The good news is that I had no issues with the main zipper. It didn't have the smoothest operation, but it didn't fail or jam.I skied in this jacket for about 4 hours. Here are the highlights: The slider on the breast zipper ate through some of the teeth and jammed with around 5 total uses. The seams are not very strong on this item which resulted in one of the wrist straps tearing through the stitch (yes, the force at the wrist (?) overpowered this item).The jacket is fairly warm and the shell was sized correctly. However, the liner was sized somewhat small for both me and the shell.If you are just buying this as a jacket and plan on only using the main zipper and not undertake any activity, you can go ahead and buy this item. Otherwise, you should find a different product. This was a cheaper jacket and you should expect a lowered quality, but this price is probably too high for what you are actually getting. I am considering this a disposable item. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Double layers - nicely constructed. *by S***N on February 4, 2019* Loved the weight of this jacket and the fleece lining. Like others we have tried before you need to keep your hands on the fleece layer when removing to not have it come off without the jacket. Bought an XL, which was plenty roomy and comfortable. Very nice jacket as well.
