On each one I found one or two songs that just nailed it. Beyond riffy and heavy as an anvil. Complimented by growling vocals that really shouldn't work but do. Amon Amarth have been a regular on my playlists since and are especially good in the gym.And here we are at their new album and it's an utter killer of a riffing beast. Whereas Jomsviking had a couple of standouts - in particular 'The Way of Vikings,' this album is far more consistent. In fact after a couple of spins I can't find any songs that are head and shoulders above the rest - in a good way. Each one has something to offer and there are none which you skip over.Most of all it's about the bludgeoning guitars. They are an utter powerhouse of thundering, catchy, headbanging, balls to the wall things. I don't know of a current band that is so focused on creating incredibly good riffs that you just cannot ignore. Fabulous stuff.Overall, this is a solid gold, 10 out of 10 effort.
