The latter has a dusty, dry, nasty (almost salt-watery) taste to it when used in generous amounts. Lalah’s also beats the pants off any other (flavorless) organic or store bought brand I’ve tasted (Ranch 99, Kroger, Ralph’s, etc.). Salt listed as one the ingredients almost shied me away from this curry at first — since I'd prefer it not to have any, or at the very least to use sea salt (which comes from natural sources and has trace minerals) — instead of man-made, refined table salt. It is what it is… Thankfully, if you pay attention to the ingredients list, salt is listed as one of the very last ingredients, and the sodium content is still quite low in comparison to some of the curry powders without it; so that’s at least a consolation. It's barely noticeable to be quite honest, and still tastes very flavorful and natural. The aromatics are quite incredible, and this stuff really pumps up my boring dishes and makes them sing like chef creations. I will definitely be purchasing again once this giant tub runs out! However Amazon price is way too high, 1.8kg goes for $11 canadian dollars in any Indian corner shop. **Q: How do you open this? I have spent about 30 minutes trying to get this thing open. Nothing works.** A: There are plastic tabs on the bottom of the lid that are thick and tough to loosen. I just kept turning the top, left to right and then right to left and eventually that will wear out the tabs and you can unscrew the top.
