## Description

SHUTS DOWN IRRIGATION WHEN DESIRED MOISTURE LEVEL HAS BEEN REACHED. The Soil-Clik simplifies soil moisture sensing. The Soil-Clik probe uses proven technology to measure moisture within the root zone. When the probe senses that the soil has reached its desired moisture level, it will shut down irrigation, preventing water waste. Soil-Clik has two components: A moisture sensor probe, which is placed in the soil, and an electronic module, which communicates with the probe and the controller. The probe is easy to install – simply bury it to the correct root depth for your plant material. It can be placed up to 1000 feet from the controller. Easy push button operation allows adjustments to the desired moisture level, with an immediate update of actual measurements. The module attaches to all AC powered Hunter controllers and will work with most other manufacturers' AC powered controllers. Soil-Clik can be programmed to shut down irrigation when it senses adequate moisture. Backed by Hunter’s 5-year warranty, the Soil-Clik is an effective water-saver either by itself or as a companion with Solar Sync for an environmentally responsive solution.

Review: Paid for itself in a couple of weeks - Works like a charm. Cut our water bill from $160/month to $35 and the grass is still green. If you have a Rain-Click you can use both by wiring the Soil-Clik in series with the zone stations common. I didn’t. Installation is a snap and you can tell at a glance the on/off status and moisture level at the probe.
Review: easy to wire up, but tricky to install in the ground and have it read a usable/reliable result. - This device in principle, is a good idea. It doesn't work very well in our dense silty soil. It's difficult to get it located in such a way to represent the majority of the yard due to such differences as sun vs shade and slope vs flat. But... that said... the sensor itself works as tested. I'm not sure it's worth relying on this though to control watering. There needs to be a better way to achieve this same goal - maybe a small network of similar sensors that can be placed throughout the lawn - ie tied to sprinkler heads etc (brainstorm, hello?? - this is a sprinkler company)... and then the controller could take an average or even associate those sensors with specific zones and modify watering in those areas. That would be "smart"... right now, it's just a dumb sensor that doesn't dry out at an equal rate as my soil and cuts off watering when it shouldn't and allows watering sometimes when it shouldn't. The gutter rain/freeze sensor is a lot more reliable.

**Q: Can two soil moisture sensors be installed in series with this module?**

**Q: How many sensor can it support? If I had a dedicated irrigation valve time and so on?**
A: The Soil Clik only supports the sensor that comes with it. However, the output of the soil clik can be used with a variety of controllers.
The output of the soil clik is a relay contact. It can be used to control a single valve or a group of valves. I have 15 valves but only 6 are connected to the soil clik. I did this by creating a separate common lead for just those six valves. The relay in the soil clik opens that common lead when there is enough moisture in the lawn thus preventing over watering. My other valves that are used for drip irrigation share a different common lead and are not affected. I have a rain sensor connected to the master controller which can shut everything off when sufficient rain has been detected.

**Q: What is the time interval for the module to take new readings of the sensor and update the display read out.  Why is a "Measurement" button needed?**
A: I can't remember what the measure button is for.  Can't say I used it over the last 4 years. As far as updates, they happen within seconds. It can be very dry on the display, and then it will rain. The sensor is buried a few inches in the ground. But once the ground is wet, the display shows wet.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Watering ON when power failure

When power fails watering is ON. For my irrigation system with a battery, power failure means it waters constantly. A backup battery for this 24VAC sensor is expensive. I wish I could set it so that when power fails watering is OFF. (I eventually fixed this problem with an external relay.)
