Overview VL53L1X Distance Sensor is a Time-of-Flight (ToF) ranging module based on the VL53L1X from ST, with accurate ranging up to 4m and fast ranging frequency up to 50 Hz, it is controlled through I2C interface, and pretty low power consumption. The VL53L1X is a ToF sensor which embeds the ST’s third generation FlightSense patented technology. Compared with the second generation VL53L0X, the VL53L1X extends the ToF ranging distance up to 4m, and features fast ranging frequency up to 50 Hz. Unlike conventional ranging sensors, the VL53L1X integrates physical infrared filters and optics, uses ST’s latest generation ToF technology which allows absolute distance measurement whatever the target color and reflectance, achieves better anti-interference capability. Review: Auch für Programmier-Anfänger? - Die Lieferung verlief wie gewohnt sehr rasch, innerhalb von drei Tagen. Zum Sensor: Er misst sehr zuverlässig und funktioniert einwandfrei. Angeschlossen wurde er bei mir an einen Raspberry Pi, wobei die Programmierung über Python 3 erfolgt. Auf Github gibt es zwei unterschiedliche Bibliotheken für den ToF-Sensor. Nach der Installation, habe ich das Demo-Programm in Python kopiert und getestet. Alles einwandfrei. Nun ist es so, dass die Beispiel-Programme recht einfach gehalten sind und keine besonderen Konfigurationen zulassen. Da ich ein Neuling bin, was Programmierung angeht, sieht es für mich unmöglich aus, tiefere Einstellungen in den Bibliotheken an sich vorzunehmen. Da wäre z.B der Interrupt-Pin, der im Originalzustand, so programmiert ist, dass er immer dann einen Interrupt (1) ausgibt, wenn der Sensor bereit ist für eine neue Messung. Leider hab ich es nicht geschafft ihn in der Weise zu programmieren, dass er einen Interrupt ausgibt, sobald das Messergebnis in einem gewissen Bereich liegt - dies wäre für eine Einwurferkennung gewünscht. Nun wird zur Erkennung des Einwurfs ein Sensor herangezogen und zur Messung des Füllstandes ein Zweiter. Mein Fazit: Ein brauchbarer, gut funktionierender Sensor. Die Programmierung erfordert allerdings einige Kenntnisse.
Review: Works well - The range is good (I can confirm 4 cm minimum, but I only got about 3m max) It works through a glass lens from a gopro enclosure The mounting is a bit awkward due to the connector. But the connector is nice to have so you can disconnect. The I2C interface is what I use, works fine to an ESP32. I have added it to my workbench 'box of sensors' for prototyping, and excellent addition
