So much of it was gone that many tiles started falling off. I’m using my husband’s account to leave this review as he was also involved in the process. Neither of us had ever grouted anything before so we were new to doing something like this. First we wiped all the tiles down just to clear any dirt and scum. Then mixed the grout into a thick smooth putty just like the instructions said. I made it in batches so it wouldn’t dry out if we didn’t work fast enough. It was really hot out when doing this so it made things dry fast. The first batch was runnier than it should have been(realized it when making a much better second batch) but it all seems to have settled and dried the same. We tried a few methods for the application but since our tiles are uneven and the cracks in between very deep the method that worked best was using a putty knife to press the putty into the cracks and running our fingers along to remove any excess. This took a lot of time(and patience). I realized I was being too much of a perfectionist when I didn’t have to be. The sponge you’ll use later on evens everything out. Then we let it dry for 45-1hour(as instructed) and wiped off all the excess using a bucket of water and wringing out a sponge. It took 1.5 tubs to complete the work but I think we wasted a lot of product since the tiles are uneven and we couldn’t run a molded rubber grout float along it(I bought one but it wasn’t usable for this job) so a lot of product was left behind on the tiles even though we tried our best to scrape it off. I wore gloves for this, my husband didn’t and his fingers are fine. I would still suggest wearing fitted kitchen gloves(the medical ones rip too easily). We did this over an entire day and let it dry for about 30 hours before refilling the pool. We also didn’t drain the pool but lowered the water line just below the tiles. Some grout fell in but it hardened and our pool vacuum later picked it up. I wasn’t sure if this product was to be used for a pool since there’s a picture of one yet nothing that actually says it’s made for pools but seeing a few other reviewers using it as such is what made me choose this one. It’s pretty straightforward and it turned out really great. Now the real test is seeing if it’ll last where constantly submerged. But so far so good! I’d definitely recommend this product! Thinking about using it in my shower surround.** A: I re-grouted our shower that had all 1/16 joints and had no problen. **Q: Can this be used for kitchen table tiles?** A: Sets very well. I recomend highly for any complete replacement or new in stall for sure. **Q: What do you mix the pool grout with?** A: I use cold bottled water(no minerals) the cold water allows you more time to mix **Q: Can this be used for open faced aggregate to replace pool tile** A: Yes I have applied this Tile Grout for what you describe, assuming it is not a large area. You may be better off using the 10 lb Pool Patch instead.
