## Description

Permatex Spray Sealant forms a durable rubber barrier that stop leaks in minutes. The wicking action seals hard-to-reach leaks without the need for disassembling or removing parts. Designed specifically to target low pressure leaks in hoses, oil pans, differentials, transmission pans, as well as plastic, PVC and metal pipes, and their connections. Eliminates the need for liquid additive sealers that can swell and foul internal seals. Resists common shop fluids. Note: In many cases, more than one coat will be needed to solve the problem.

Review: Check Engine Code P0456 finally fixed - 16 Month Update: Code never came back. This product sealed the vacuum leak - which had been plaguing me for years. ************* For a long time I had been having an intermittent check engine code that relates to the evap emissions test part of the OBDII on my 2005 Mercedes C230. It does not affect the operation of the vehicle or the engine. It just means there is a small vacuum leak when the system tests itself which throws the code. Consequently you can’t get your car smogged or registered. I read in various places that this is a common problem with this vehicle and even watched YouTube videos of people addressing repairs etc. I learned thanks to all this information (!) that there is a specific spot close to and just behind where the fuel filler opening is located. The part includes a plastic barb which a hose connects to. The barb develops a hairline crack causing a “small evap leak” (P0456). Many people solved their issue by replacing the entire filler neck assembly, which can cost anywhere from $150 for a used part to $500 for a new part. Not to mention the 2-4 hours in labor. The vehicle has a rubber shroud directly behind the fuel inlet which you can push down with a flat screwdriver. You can see right in that location where the suspect part is located. I used the straw attachment and sprayed all over that area about 5-8 coats of this liquid Permatex. It sprays on like liquid and congeals into a nice rubber sealant after a few minutes. I have not had the P0456 code since using this spray sealant. Given the tight space limitations involved, there’s no way I could’ve made this repair using a different product. I would recommend this product for any low pressure (or vacuum) leaks. The straw sprayer is perfect so you can get into tight spaces. It seems particularly suited for things like what I accomplished - sealing a hose/barb fitting - a weak spot in any vacuum system.
Review: Good stuff - This is a great product. Stopped a leak on my main pan. Just clean the area well with brake clean first

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have a leak in my window washer tank... do i have to remove the tank or can it sprayed directly into the tank? or would it just leak out? a real pai**
A: depending on the leak, I don't think will do what you want. Permatex does offer a plastic tank repair product that will repair your leak. here is the link to the product here on Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/Permatex®-Plastic-Tank-Repair-Kit/dp/B0007TQWM4/ref=sr_1_1?crid=D6ERNWY9KSY2&keywords=permatex+plastic+tank+repair+kit&qid=1576547881&s=automotive&sprefix=permatex+plastic+ta%2Celectronics%2C164&sr=1-1

I hope this helps

**Q: I have a pinhole leak in my transfercase, it gravity drips maybe a couple drops an hour, will this work?**
A: You have to drain the case, spray with brake cleaner and lightly sand around the hole. I applied JB Weld first and then sprayed this over the area expanding out past the actual hole by a couple of inches. The combination seemed to bond better to the metal. If the hole is small enough and you get it good and clean the spray might work on it's own. I just went the extra yard because if it didn't hold I had to start all over again. Good luck.

**Q: will it work on a gas tank leak**
A: No, the gas tank pressure is too high for this product to stop the leak.

**Q: does it work for high temp areas?**
A: worked on a vw pushrod tube seals on the block but had to give it several coats

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ and multiple coats for a good seal. Sealed my ATF leak for just long ...
*by V***I on December 19, 2017*

Not a permanent solution. Displaces oil well, but does not seal through it. Will not seal a leak under pressure, even pressure of gravity. requires pre-cleaning with brake cleaner or equivalent, and multiple coats for a good seal. Sealed my ATF leak for just long enough to make a real repair (about 1 week). Gloves recommended, it's nasty stuff to get on your hands.
