Only time I ever had it go low was because the backlight got turned on to illuminate when you rolled the watch to read it. Plus it was set to stay on longer as well. So while tossing and turning in bed all night the watch was staying lit. So once I got that setting changed it never came off "high". So now at the 15 year mark, I am replacing it because the illumination no longer works past a tenth of a second. So I feel I got my money's worth. **Q: My husband's wrist measures 8 inches.
