The Corelle box was in a brown shipping box. **Q: What is it made out of? Stone wear or what?** A: Glass- but very durable - been using same dishes for 20 years! If you grew up in the US, you might remember these from your parents' or grandparents' house. This style of plate is made from a laminated glass since around 1970. The vitrelle glass is super resistant to breakage. You can drop these on a hard floor and they usually don't break. I have had a set for many many years and finally had enough loss and attrition that I needed to order more. When the new ones arrived, they were exactly the same as the traditional set, and thus stacked perfectly with my old Corelle vitrelle plates and bowls. They aren't fancy, but they don't call attention to themselves. The durable material makes them great for everyday use, while the plain white design is great for blending in to a nice table setting when you are getting a little formal. One additional feature that I much appreciate is that the bowls are shaped in a way that they fit easily in a dishwasher (some bowl shapes are too deep and don't stack well in a dishwasher - these fit well).
