With sides to hold it op off the ground. The frame was covered on top with 1/2 inch hardware cloth to keep the chickens from eating the seed. When the grass grows through thetop, they can eat the tops, but not scracth up.the grass shoots. This patch of grass seemed to keep the chicks happy.
