Review: Perfect for Lepidodactylus ligubris "Mourning Geckos" - I have a colony of L. ligubris that feast on fruit flies or CGD. This flavor is by far their favorite and has produced the best feeding response of any flavor or brand. I think it is because mourning geckos can be raised on a much higher percentage of insects than Crested Geckos can. It smells incredible, and this is the only flavor that I get a consistent empty bowl from. I personally depend very heavily on reviews that are posted on desertcart, as do many other consumers. I not only read what reviewers say, but look to see what their pictures reveal about a products true quality and description. I aim to not only feature the products I review in many different aspects, analyzing many qualities, I also provide my own opinions on ALL the good AND bad experiences I have with the product I review. Review: Helped my crestie gain some weight! - This food is fantastic! I’ve been using this stuff for about three years now and figured it was time to leave a review. During the first year of having my crested gecko, he had a hard time gaining any weight. At first I brushed it off as him just being on the smaller side, but I started weighing him and he was only around 20 grams at a year old. I know that isn’t completely out of the norm—he could have just been growing a little slow—but he just looked really skinny in his body when compared to the size of his head and images I’d seen of other cresteds. I was only feeding him repashy and decided to switch to this stuff, thinking the added insects would help him gain some weight. And it did! He beefed right up and is now a happy, perfectly normal sized little guy. My family/friends were amazed at how fast he grew. Needless to say, I’m really happy I found this stuff. Not only is it better for my lizard, but it’s super affordable and lasts a LONG time. I know some people don’t love the texture, finding it to be a bit to thick. My lizard is on a pretty consistent schedule, so I usually make it a little watery when I feed him and then by the time he gets to it, it has dried out a bit and is the perfect consistency. I’d recommend just playing around with the consistency you start with, maybe try spraying the tank when you feed so that the humidity gets a boost and helps keep the food moist. Overall, I love this product and I’ll never use another brand of crestie food.

**Q: What are the Black/White Parts in the diet?**
A: The white chunks are typically potassium sorbate and small pieces of coconut flakes that can't be sifted out during the production process. These are a natural part of the diet. The black parts are insect parts that are an important part of the diet.

**Q: What is the right feeding schedule?**
A: Under normal circumstances your gecko will only need 3 to 5 feedings per week. Occasional feeding with live insects is recommended by not required with this diet.

**Q: How much should I offer my gecko per feeding?**
A: It depends on the age of your gecko. Most Juveniles should receive about 1/16th of an ounce or a dime size portion. Subadults should receive 1/8th of an ounce or a nickel sized portion. An adult should receive a quarter to about a half ounce portion.

**Q: Why shouldn't I freeze the diet to help it last longer?**
A: The ice crystals that form during the freezing process can potentially damage the cell walls of the plant ingredient contents and reduce the overall nutritional value of the diet.

**Q: Why does the unrefrigerated prepared feed expire after a day?**
A: The prepared feed can be compared to a fruit smoothie. A fruit smoothie sitting in a humid tropical environment like a gecko terrarium will not last as long as it would while refrigerated.

My gecko loves this brand he refuses to eat anything else if not this brand. Weird. And I guess the watermelon one was so good my dog ate the bag 🤦‍♀️. Definitely good quality food for geckos.
