It doesn't rub off easily - in fact it can take 2 to 3 washings to get it completely out. Yes, it does make the hair a little stiff & sticky, but I can minimize that feel by wiping my goatee a little with a towel after applying. That does remove some of the color, but also makes it look more natural. My only complaint (and the reason for minus 1 star) is I really wish they would make an actual medium brown.
