In my situation this is not a problem as I will only be using it for specific tasks which it manages very well. The condition of the unit is literally like new, it is like it has not been used, no visible scratches or dinks. The wireless keyboard and mouse provided are not Apple but they function just as well, the keyboard is not a UK layout but again that is no big deal, you can always use a different keyboard if that is a problem. Despite its age it is a great spec machine with a 500Gb HDD and now an i5 processor. For the money I think it is great value so long as you accept its limitations in respect of the age of the software. There was a rating for gaming I don't have time for that so have no benchmark to rate it against.
