It's small enough to pack with you if your going camping or elsewhere you may not have electricity. The only down side is it takes about 20 minutes of cranking to grind enough beans for a 12 cup pot of coffee. Your arm gets tired. I love that the jars have lids to store the already ground beans if you make extra in advance. I know I had a cheap one and I assumed that because I was trying to get a really fine espresso grind with it that is probably what broke it. I decided to get another one with the lesson learned of not to go for too fine of a grind. So when I get the replacement I set up for a grind with my V60. That isn't too find and is actual pretty close to most grinds you get when you order pre-ground coffee.......well I turned the crank twice and the burr shattered again. I will not be replacing it. I sent it in for a refund. Do not get this item. The phrase "you get what you pay for" really applies to this, Just spend the extra money and get a Hario manual grinder. I've had mine for a year and still works as well the same day that I bought it. I bought this one here to keep at work. I actually prefer my blade grinder over this sub-par Chinese made burr grinder.
