I've always loved Clark's Wave sandals...but was surprised that these wore more poorly than in the past. Admittedly, I wore them almost every day for four months (seriously). By two months in, they were too loose for my B/M foot, even on the tightest settings. That was new. By four months in, I'm looking for a different brand for the first time in years. The footbeds on this four month old pair are flattened, and they are extremely loose--no longer giving the good lateral support (even in sandals) that I grew to expect from Clark's. While I've worn them virtually every day for four months, in the past they would last a year++ of being worn an average of 200 days out of 365--so about the same amount of wear. Something's changed at Clark's; I see they are offering a lot of cheaper (yes, and cuter) sandals...but I'm not looking for that. I want dependable sports sandals; going to try a pair of ECCO Yucatans.ORIGINAL REVIEW, JUL 3, 2017Love, love, love these Clarks wave sandals! I usually buy one pair a year. There was no "breaking in" period. Straight out of the box.... aahhh!! I have worn these shoes before -- shopping in the mall, walking on vacations tours -- and they have always been my favorite shoes to wear in the summer. I hope to be able to continue to add these shoes every year to my wardrobe!! Keep 'em coming!! ### ⭐ what happened to Clarks? *by M***N on October 5, 2018* These shoes nearly ruined a vacation because of the problems thay caused. I have worn Clarks shoes forever, and was searching for a pair of good walking sandals to replace the used and excellent Clarks ones I still have, and these seemed perfect, just like the old ones. I wore them for a short while in the house than put them aside for our trip, with complete confidence. When I wore them on out trip (Sept 17 -Oct 4th), I thought we would have to cancel everything because of the pain these caused. The front flaps caused huge blisters to develop between the 4th and 5th toes, first on the right foot then on the left, even when opened as wide as possible. The left side was so bad that we had to buy another pair of shoes- the pain was so bad that I could not have any pressure on the 4th and 5th toes. We bought bandaging, moleskin, and finally special bandaids for blisters- anything to alleviate the pain and allow me to walk. I inspected the shoe repeatedly, and I suspect the problem was the raised edge of the footbed which caused the 5th toe to be pressed against the 4th, causing blisters and open 'cuts'. I also strongly suspect that the leather parts are now vinyl. I felt like a pilgrim going to Compostella to get the pain cured- we were (trying) walking/climbing around Medieval villages in southern France!. Had I brought along my 5-year old pair, this would not have happened; because of my now questionable confidence in Clarks, I will never buy another pair- and I do not have foot problems- because I buy good shoes!
