With BMW engines, they'll go 50-100,000 miles, easy. From a nit-picky standpoint, none of the NGK IX plugs I've run have ever had any kind of an issue. No dished-out crush washers, broken electrodes or anodes. I use anti-seize (some people will tell you to do this with NGK, some will tell you to avoid it) and torque to 25-27 foot-pounds; I've never had one back out or come loose, or stripped threads or otherwise hurt the block. These install easily with a standard magnetic spark plug socket. I don't see improved power or economy or any of that typical mumbo jumbo. What these plugs give you is the knowledge that you'll only have to replace them every 50,000-100,000 miles.
