Review: High Quality - tastes less… bad - Beet Powder tastes like dirt (earthy) at best and straight awful at worst. I’ve used chews, powders, and various other beet supplements. So far this has been my “best” experience. Don’t get me wrong, it does NOT taste good, however, I found it more tolerable than many others. It dissolved very easily, quickly. It can feel a little gritty towards the end of your drink if you did not use enough water. The instructions state to mix it and drink immediately! (Follow the instructions, this is not wine, it will not age gracefully. High quality, fine powdered. I take it as a general supplement daily (not a pre workout) and have experienced no side effects, flushing, or GI discomfort. I will purchase more once mine runs out. Review: Surprisingly pleasant - I hate beets, but this stuff is good. I add it to turmeric and black pepper water. It adds a slight sweetness, and as long as I don’t overdo it, I can barely tell that it’s beets. If you add a bit more it does have a bit of a wild taste… and some of yous like beets, so that’s all good. Sure it may clunk up a little bit in the bottle like some have complained, but that hasn’t presented a cause for complaint for me, as they are soft chunks that are easily broken. Put the handle of a spoon in there and chop it around a little bit, it comes out smoothly. Unlike many that I see, I actually enjoy the earthy taste. I would purchase again and do recommend. ## Features - NOW Sports products are comprehensively tested so you can trust that our products are pure and effective for every level of athletics. - PURE POWDER: A pure derivative from non-GMO beets that’s dried and not extracted. - SUPERFOOD: Beets are a true superfood and are naturally abundant in a variety of nutrients including nitrates. - GMP Quality Assured: NPA A-rated GMP certification means that every aspect of the NOW manufacturing process has been examined, including our laboratory/testing methods (for stability, potency, and product formulation). - Packaged in the USA by a family owned and operated company since 1968. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B07G3VWDWL | | Age Range Description | Adult | | Allergen Information | Corn-Free, Dairy Free, Egg Free, Non-GMO, Nut Free, Soy Free | | Best Sellers Rank | #81,341 in Health & Household ( See Top 100 in Health & Household ) #196 in Sports Nutrition Nitric Oxide Boosters | | Brand | NOW | | Brand Name | NOW | | Color | Dark Red | | Container Type | Bottle | | Customer Reviews | 4.4 out of 5 stars 801 Reviews | | Diet Type | Vegan | | Dosage Form | Powder | | Flavor | Unflavored | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00733739050557 | | Item Dimensions | 3.45 x 3.4 x 6.55 inches | | Item Form | Powder | | Item Nype Name | Diet & Weight Management | | Item Weight | 0.42 kg | | Manufacturer | NOW Sports - Nutrition and Wellness | | Manufacturer Part Number | 5055 | | Material Features | GMO Free | | Model Name | NOW Sports | | Model Number | 5055 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Primary Supplement Type | multivitamin | | Product Benefits | Energy Management | | Recommended Uses For Product | Energy Production | | Special Ingredients | Beet Root | | Specific Uses For Product | Energy Production | | Total Servings Per Container | 36 | | UPC | 733739050557 | | Unit Count | 12 Ounce | ## Product Details - **Brand:** NOW Foods - **Diet Type:** Vegan - **Flavor:** Unflavored - **Item Form:** Powder - **Item Weight:** 0.42 kg - **Item dimensions L x W x H:** 3.45 x 3.4 x 6.55 inches - **Primary Supplement Type:** multivitamin - **Product Benefits:** Energy Management - **Special Ingredients:** Beet Root - **Unit Count:** 12 Ounce ## Images ![NOW Sports, Beet Root Powder With Naturally Occurring Nitrates, 12 oz - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71MSCeOu3xL.jpg) ![NOW Sports, Beet Root Powder With Naturally Occurring Nitrates, 12 oz - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71IOUbmNlFL.jpg) ![NOW Sports, Beet Root Powder With Naturally Occurring Nitrates, 12 oz - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71PWrPzqj6L.jpg) ![NOW Sports, Beet Root Powder With Naturally Occurring Nitrates, 12 oz - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71+ABJ92uKL.jpg) ![NOW Sports, Beet Root Powder With Naturally Occurring Nitrates, 12 oz - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61xwuKho-QL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: I see it's a product of China. Is it tested for melamine and heavy metals and the other usual contaminants found in Chinese products?** A: Now Foods does not import this product's ingredients from China. They come from from Austria. Melamine is tested only in proteins and not in starches. Now Foods checks for all the contaminants regardless of where they come from. **Q: Label says product is tested and packaged in Illionis. Where are the beets grown?** A: I just called the company. They are from China and India. **Q: Is this a resistant starch rs like hi-maize corn flour?** A: Folks, all starches are carbohydrates (sugar-type chemicals) basically made out of *many* simple sugar molecules in chains. Though they aren’t sweet flavored, most starches quickly break into sugars in our systems and so have a “high glycemic index” (read: big blood sugar spike). Starches combine amylose (typically 20-30%; fast breakdown) and amylopectin (typically 70-80%, medium-speed breakdown). But waxy maize is 90% amylopectin, slowing and spreading out that blood sugar peak. Similar idea to adding fiber or protein to a sugar snack except here, you still have the option to add those and slow it down yet more. The seller is correct, melamine is fake (toxic) for protein and makes no sense to add here. The other answerer is also right; if it came thru Austria it’s probably from China on that basis alone. But wherever it’s from, >99% of the world’s corn (maize) is now GMO. Place your bets, but we’re all shopping from the same store now. Have a good run. **Q: How many pills or mg equal to a 5 pound watermelon ?** A: When I researched citrulline, I read that 1 cup of watermelon = 290mg of citrulline. The exact amount varies since watermelons are subject to environmental factors. Studies of citrulline seem to utilize a maximum dosage of 3 grams per day. Recommended daily dosages range in the 1-2 gram range. This specific bottle recommends 1 tablet, 1 or 2 times daily. I would suggest starting with 1 tablet per day. After 1-2 weeks, note any effects. Efficacy is subject to an individual's diet, general health and biochemistry. Hope this info helps. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ High Quality - tastes less… bad *by J***S on September 14, 2026* Beet Powder tastes like dirt (earthy) at best and straight awful at worst. Only ONE ingredient! Beetroot powder! Now that’s my jam! No Preservatives! So important!!!! It takes one TBS per 8 oz water. I mix it right into my shakes. It makes them sweeter & more tolerable & easier to get down if you don’t like beets. Beets are a healthy super food for everyone. I use this daily just about. I suffer from chronic fatigue. I was hoping that this would help with energy. Sometimes I feel like it helps. Sometimes not so much. I dont know. Regardless, it’s a super food. So I take it either way. I’m a very poor eater. I eat once a day sometimes two. So I have to pack in the supplements because I became malnourished due to lack of vitamins. So here I am. Trying my best. Beats are naturally abundant in a variety of nutrients, including nitrates! Your man needs these!! Research men’s health & what Nitrates can do for him…and you! ;) You’re welcome. Not manufactured with yeast, wheat, gluten, soy, corn, milk, egg, fish, shellfish, or tree nut ingredients. How fabulous! Natural color!! No dyes!! Say what?! I dont know where it’s made. But it’s packaged & quality tested right here in the good ole USA! ***Uh oh!! A few problems… I was on a roll. Recycle # 1 bottles causes toxic gasses when burned during the recycling process. Harmful to the environment. I would rather them package it in a dark glass jar or in a safe paper or foil package. Anything but plastic! Do you want to learn about what toxic items you have in your house? Look up the numbers on the triangles on your recyclable products. Let the companies know that they are doing a good or poor job. It matters. Our health matters. Seems like a great product. Just needs a few tweaks with its packaging and…. And it can be more affordable. Everything can always be more affordable. I would love a bulk size to decrease waste & protect the environment. Bulk usually saves the consumer money too! I would rather buy something 3-4 times a year than every month. That goes for all supplements. Most supplements take 3 or more months to work or not. So to buy one bottle a month is a huge waste for our environment! We must do better! The 12 oz size is 36 servings. So it lasts only a month. So one person is going through 12 or more bottles a year! That’s depending on how many people in the house use it. Could be more! That is a ton of waste! We must ask companies & the stores that sell the products to do better. Less packaging. Healthier packaging. Bulk size. Our families deserve better. Do your part. And remember. Always be humble & kind!
