I had a different set of 3-pound weights, but lost them; I purchased the Valeo set to replace them, and I like them much better.My last set had a non-slip grip as well, but it was smooth and very sticky; it stuck to everything! I couldn't leave it on my carpet because it would pick up strands; I always had to leave it on a smooth plastic-like surface. And it would pick up dust on the sticky surface!But the Valeo set is a little bit textured and not sticky at all! If your hands get really sweaty, I can see how it might not be so non-slip, but I haven't used it for rigorous activity or outdoors, so I can't say from experience.While I do like the purple color, I wish it had other color options. I have used them more frequently lately since barre/ballet workouts have really come into vogue. Even before those types of exercises, I used them up to five times a week for years. I am really impressed with the fact that the neoprene is not discolored and is still completely in tact. I have also stored these in the most random places (under the bed, in the closet, etc.) and in various humidity/temperature conditions. These also have a very comfortable grip that have never irritated my hands whether they are sweaty or not. They are slightly darker than in the photo, but that did not bother me. I would highly recommend these to anyone who wants to workout with light weights at home. They're even light enough to take while traveling and then can be used in a hotel room. If they fall apart then I will definitely purchase them again. They are great! Love the pink color. They are great quality and don't roll when you set them down on a smooth surface.In case you are like me, you may be wondering what amount of weight to buy for the 30 day shred. I hemmed and hawed for several days over whether to get 2, 3, or 5 lb weights. Now that I have the dvd and have done the workout, I am SO GLAD I got the 2 lb weights. The workout involves a lot of repetitions, so if you are not super strong, you want very light weights. I would consider myself to be of an "average" level of fitness. If you work with weights a lot or are otherwise pretty strong, you'd probably be fine with 3 or 5 lb weights.
